Leibovitz Holocaust Collection

Supporting the professional development of teachers and the continued education of children about the Holocaust.

Introduction

Housed at the ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University-Quad Cities Library in Moline, the Jeff Leibovitz Special Collection of Holocaust Education Materials is a valuable resource for use in instruction and research about the Holocaust. The contents of the collection are carefully chosen by the Leibovitz Collection Steering Committee to represent the highest quality materials aimed at teachers and students. The Leibovitz Collection contains books, audiovisual materials, and specially designed classroom resources such as posters and curriculum kits. The collection also features traveling cases of materials for teaching an entire unit on the Holocaust.

Topics Covered

Some topics covered in the Leibovitz Collection are as follows:

  • The origins of Hitler's campaign against the Jews.
  • Children in the Holocaust.
  • Daily life in concentrations camps.
  • People who hid from the Nazis and those who helped them.
  • Persecutions of non-Jewish ethnic groups during the Holocaust.
  • Holocaust survivors and their stories.

Accessing the Collection

Quad Cities area teachers may borrow materials, including the curriculum trunks, for use in developing and teaching lessons about the Holocaust.
