As part of a strategic realignment, Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences Amy Crosby has been named Interim Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations and Interim Executive Officer of the WIU Foundation, effective immediately. Crosby has served in her current role for seven years. Previously, the Division of Advancement, Alumni Relations and Athletics was led by Vice President Clare Thompson. Athletics will move to the Division of Student Success. Crosby will report directly to the President.

One such initiative is the Learning Assistant Program (LA Program), introduced in 2017 as a peer-based model to enhance active and collaborative learning in the classroom. Over the years, the program has produced impressive results, including higher student grades and increased retention rates in the Engineering program and throughout many STEM programs.

As the fall semester begins, a dozen first-year Leathernecks are starting the year with an in-depth understanding of the functions and opportunities at “ŗÓźÖ±²„ Illinois University. From July 14 to August 9, this group of students, including participants from as far as Texas and New York, spent four weeks living on-campus and participating in the annual Liftoff! Summer Bridge Program.
