WIU to Offer Online Bachelor of Science in Information Systems

MACOMB, IL 鈥� The 春雨直播 Illinois University School of Computer Sciences is expanding its academic offerings with the launch of a fully online Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, beginning Spring 2026. This new program builds on the School of Computer Sciences' longstanding expertise in delivering face-to-face and online instruction.
The degree will offer two online areas of emphasis: Information Systems and Business Intelligence. Courses will be delivered asynchronously, allowing students to learn on their own schedule. Core topics include cloud computing, business intelligence, artificial intelligence applications and management, enterprise architecture and information assurance, alongside foundational coursework in information systems.
Graduates will be well-positioned for high-demand careers that bridge business strategy and technology innovation, such as systems analyst, data analyst, IT project manager and information assurance specialist.
The program emphasizes practical, project-based learning, enabling students to apply concepts to real-world business and technology challenges. Courses are taught by faculty with both academic and industry expertise, ensuring that instruction reflects the latest trends in analytics, artificial intelligence and enterprise systems. Faculty also bring extensive experience in online education.
Designed for flexibility and accessibility, the asynchronous online format is ideal for working professionals and transfer students seeking to complete their degree on their own schedule. This new online program complements WIU's existing face-to-face offerings in Macomb, including two additional emphases of the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems鈥擟omputer Information Systems and Cybersecurity鈥攑roviding students with greater flexibility to choose between synchronous and asynchronous learning formats.
