Wohlford Named New Interim Director of Sponsored ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s

MACOMB, IL - - ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Pat Wohlford as the new interim director of the Office of Sponsored ´ºÓêÖ±²¥s, effective August 15.
Wohlford will provide leadership in research administration, grant development and research compliance. She will support faculty and staff in securing external funding, ensuring compliance with federal, state and institutional requirements and strengthening WIU's research enterprise.
Wohlford brings nearly four decades of experience in higher education leadership, including roles as Executive Vice President, Vice President, Vice Provost, Academic Dean and Director of Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance. Over her career, she has successfully led research development initiatives, strengthened compliance frameworks and supported faculty in securing over $142 million in external funding over the past seven years. She is also deeply committed to fostering a culture of integrity, innovation and collaboration in research. Wohlford has served as a tenured professor for many years teaching courses in health policy, research methods and justice reform and earned her Ph. D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Iowa State University in 2005. She also has an impressive history of funded research related to medicine and women's health.
