The Tate Lindahl Collection
August 29 – October 13, 2022 Reception: Thursday , September 1, 4:30-6:00 pm The ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ Illinois University Art Gallery will honor the late Tate Lindahl with an exhibition of the Tate Lindahl Collection. The Tate Lindahl Collection will be on display August 29 through October 13, 2022. A reception will be held Thursday, September 1 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Lindahl came to ´ºÓêÖ±²¥ in 1967 as part of a team charged with design and implementation of computer use for administrative purposes, as well as for research and instruction. During his 23 years in academic computing at WIU, Lindahl authored three textbooks and co-authored a fourth on computer programming, and was instrumental in the evolution of computer use by faculty and students. He retired in 1990. Lindahl and his wife, Sharon, have been avid supporters of the performing arts and other initiatives at WIU, and in 2011, the Lindahls arranged for a bequest in Tate's estate plans to assist in the maintenance of the Center for Performing Arts on the Macomb campus. A longtime supporter of the arts at ´ºÓêÖ±²¥, Lindahl began his tradition of generosity by giving artwork to the University in the early 1980s. Five Rembrandt prints were gifts from Lindahl. He has also contributed works by Georges Rouault, Gatja Rothe, and Francisco Goya. This Exhibition will feature those works donated to the University as well as works from his private collection.

Phyllis Bramson - Fairytale Trails and Other Fables
September 27 – October 28, 2022 Reception: Tuesday, October 4, 4:30-6:00 pm The narratives in my paintings remain incomplete, usually never really telling a coherent story and thus the narratives resemble abstracted tropes. They are used as a repository for feelings, which often collide and intermingle between the personal and at the same time the social. Paintings that wobble between private subjective values; social concerns and conceits; melancholic loss and cliché.

Christopher Troutman - Giant Sized Comics
October 25 - December 9, 2022 Reception: Thursday, December 8, 4:30-6:00 pm I focus on the human figure in contemporary urban settings in my work, which is inspired by my experience living in the US and Japan: additionally, I explore features of narrative, public and domestic spaces, and the continuum of illustration and fine art. My goal for using everyday subjects, which I augment by depicting them from unexpected vantage points, is to emphasize the value of daily visual experiences, drawn from observation, photographs, memory, and imagination, as a relevant subject for contemporary drawing and painting.
