WIU Cybersecurity Center Hosts Awareness Training with Macomb City Hall
November 3, 2025
MACOMB, IL - - The WIU Cybersecurity Center and the Cybersecurity Enthusiasts Club organized a Cybersecurity Awareness Training for Macomb City Hall Executive members.
The training covered the importance of protecting personal information, explored authentication methods for accessing online accounts and shared essential resources to help participants continue learning how to protect their information while maintaining a safe online presence.
“I thought I knew quite a bit about keeping my online information secure; however, I learned a lot of new information about protecting my data online! A very fun and informative session,” Jessica Biddenstadt, a grant writer and coordinator of the program said.
“The training provided by Professor Khan was very helpful and did an excellent job of explaining the risks and what we need to do to better protect ourselves,” Stott Coker, city administrator said.
The WIU Cybersecurity Program creates opportunities for students and the local community to collaborate in building an ecosystem of cybersecurity awareness.
The program aims to strengthen communities and protect our nation by equipping people with the knowledge and resources needed to identify, detect and take effective action to mitigate cyber risks.
